Rob and Sue are (finally) getting married

When:

Saturday, February 24, 2024
Wedding 3:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Reception 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Afterparty 8 p.m. – ? (this is already past Sue’s bedtime)

Where:

The Rusty Pelican
2425 N Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607

Important!

All parking at the restaurant is valet-only. Tell the attendants that you are there for the Johnson-Bedry wedding and you should get the valet parking without being charged.

Travel Information:

The nearest airport is Tampa International (TPA). It is less than a 10-minute drive from the wedding venue. In that area, the Rusty Pelican recommends this taxi service:
Ambassador Limousine (727) 442-9050
Lyft and Uber are also widely available in the bay area.

Where should I stay?

Here are the hotels that are closest to the venue. If you have any questions feel free to ask us. We don’t typically stay in our local hotels, so we’d be relying on Google maps and TripAdvisor ourselves.

Do you want to stay close to the venue?

There are a few hotels within walking distance of the wedding venue.

The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa
7700 W Courtney Campbell Cswy, Tampa, FL 33607

Sailport Waterfront Suites
2506 N Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607

The CURRENT Hotel, Autograph Collection (Capital letters + “Autograph” = expensive)
2545 N Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL 33607

These are very close, but you won’t want to walk to the venue from them:

The Westin Tampa Bay
7627 W Courtney Campbell Cswy, Tampa, FL 33607

DoubleTree by Hilton Tampa Rocky Point Waterfront
3050 N Rocky Point Dr W, Tampa, FL 33607

Hampton Inn Tampa/Rocky Point-Airport
3035 N Rocky Point Dr E, Tampa, FL 33607

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tampa/Rocky Point Island
3025 N Rocky Point Dr E, Tampa, FL 33607

Do you want to stay close to the beach?

Some of the hotels near the venue are on Tampa Bay and may have small beaches, but they do not have a true ocean view. If you don’t mind a short drive, Clearwater beach is the nearest beach on the Gulf of Mexico and is generally the most touristy. Indian Rocks Beach, Madiera Beach, Treasure Island, and St. Pete Beach are other options that are a bit quieter, but can be up to an hour from the wedding venue if the traffic is bad.

Children

Children of all ages are welcome. Just let us know the names and ages along with your RSVP.

Gifts & Registry

There is no registry. We need no gifts. Seriously, we’ve combined our two houses into one and we have so much stuff that we don’t even have space for a picture frame. The only gift we truly want is to have you here and for you to enjoy yourselves. It’s part of our reason for doing it in February, for those of you who live in places where February’s are actually cold.

Restaurants:

Some of the more well-known restaurants in the area:

Columbia Restaurant
2117 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605
Traditional Spanish food
Florida’s oldest restaurant
We are going to try to get a group together to go here either a couple of days before the ceremony or the day after.

La Teresita Restaurant
3248 W Columbus Dr, Tampa, FL 33607
Cuban food
Casual. There are many Cuban restaurants in Tampa. This is one of them, but you have many others to choose from.

Bern’s Steak House
1208 S Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33606
Steak
Fancy and expensive, but one of the best-known restaurants in Tampa.

Ulele
1810 N Highland Ave, Tampa, FL 33602
Florida-themed food. Slightly upscale.

Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill
7 Rockaway St, Clearwater, FL 33767
Fried fish
If you’re out on Clearwater Beach, this is the most famous spot out there. Food’s your basic fried bar-food, but hey, you’re on the beach. Be careful with parking in this area, not that either of us have ever had their car towed. There are other Frenchy’s locations up and down the beach.

If you are looking for specific recommendations, let us know. If we’ve been, we can tell you. If not, we can go there to check it out!

Some neighborhoods with good eats:

Seminole Heights

SoHo (South Howard)

Water Street in downtown Tampa

Ybor City (Pronounced ee-bore)

Downtown Saint Petersburg

St. Pete Beach

Things to do:

Busch Gardens
Tampa Aquarium
Tampa Theatre
ZooTampa
Clearwater Marine Aquarium
John’s Pass
Ybor City
If you like beer, Tampa was ranked one of the 10-best beer cities in the USA. There are many breweries in the bay area. Be sure to check out Cigar City, Coppertail*, and 3 Daughters. There are many other small breweries to choose from, and they almost always have food nearby or food trucks parked outside. Please drink responsibly. We want you to have a safe and enjoyable visit.
* Coppertail is closest to our house, so if you’re there, let us know and we might be able to meet you there.

Didn’t Rob make websites for a living? Why does this page look so basic?

When Rob made websites for a living, he had great co-workers who were fantastic designers and artists that made his sites look good. Rob’s job was to make sure the site didn’t explode. If you read down this far, then Rob did his job. 🙂
